Everything flows… (2023) is a video triptych shot at the island of Örö, Finland. The screen on the left shows a view of the sea from a cliff. The middle one shows the same landscape through the bore of a cannon, and the right one shows a video of the moving sea surface magnified 100 000 times.

The work is based on a metaphysical thought experiment by Dimi Chakalov. Assuming that you are surrounded by the sea and all you see around you is endless blue water. Observing this view through a funnel-shaped object – in this case a cannon barrel – one sees only a small, limited area of this immeasurable amount of water. At the same time, one can notice that this area is constantly changing over time But if we assume that this well-defined area is infinitesimal, i.e. infinitely small, instead of the barrel of the cannon, what part of this endless blue-coloured sea does one perceive?

However, the video work on display at ÖRES 23 is not a visualisation of this philosophical train of thought, but a distinctive landscape depiction and a study of the perception of colour, complete with a stereo soundtrack.
